Mediation

Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process where, with the help of a neutral third party, couples work together to resolve issues in relation to their separation, without going to court. A mediator, even one who is also a lawyer, will only provide legal information not legal advice.

Couples may choose to have their own lawyer present throughout the duration of the mediation or may seek legal advice at various times during the mediation.  Each individual may also consult a lawyer at the conclusion of mediation to review and provide advice on the final mediation report.  The mediator may also prepare a draft Separation Agreement which the couple may then take to their respective lawyers to review and finalize.

In her role as mediator, Kirsty will assist couples in generating options and making decisions with respect to their family matters in a safe and respective environment where all voices are heard.
